Anna Gyure

Anna grew up in Los Angeles and started dancing at age 3. After studying ballet with Pacific Festival Ballet and Los Angeles Ballet School, and overcoming numerous injuries, she moved to Seattle to study dance at Cornish College of the Arts.

While at Cornish, Anna trained in Cunningham and Limón techniques, and had the opportunity to work with fixtures of the Seattle dance community like Wade Madsen and Pat Hon. She performed with Cornish Dance Theatre and helped organize and danced in several improvisational exhibitions.

In 2020, she was offered a substantial scholarship to transfer to Gonzaga University. She took the opportunity and joined their Academic Dance Program. At Gonzaga, she took classes with Suzanne Ostersmith, CarliAnn Forthun-Bruner, and Pam Erickson. She was accepted into the Gonzaga University Repertory Dance Company where she was able to tour with the company to elementary schools around the region. She graduated with honors and received her BA in Dance from Gonzaga in May of 2022.
As a choreographer, Anna accepts every chance she gets to put her pieces on stage or on film. Her works have been shown in Seattle, Spokane, and Boulder, Colorado. Her choreography often takes inspiration from her faith, nature, and mental illness.

Anna lives on the South Hill with her mom and two Black and Tan Coonhounds. When she isn’t dancing, she works as a theatre tech at Gonzaga’s Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center. She is also an avid photographer and singer/songwriter. In 2019, her performance of an original song earned her a third place finish in the singer/songwriter competition at the Topanga Banjo-Fiddle Contest and Folk Festival in California.
